George says the team needs to account for an August 15th completion target so testing and mobile review can happen before an end-of-August launch. He explains that the current scope includes far more graphics than expected, potentially around 90 to 100 hours of work even with reuse, and suggests reducing the number of graphics, switching some features to icons, changing the page layout, or adding more help. George asks for direction on which approach to take because the current monthly scope seems too small for the amount of design work required.
[00:00] Hey folks, so I started tagging you guys in the imagery page so just FYI you'll
[00:10] start seeing those Figma tags and if you can jump in there but something I noticed that I want to point out just for the sake of like scope and timeline I think Eddie mentioned that you want to be live with the site by the end of
[00:20] August which means that in all reality we need to be like you know the
[00:30] majority of the thing needs to be complete by August 15th I would say so we can actually do testing and mobile like this is a massive site so there's a lot of stuff to check and I think that just going back and forth between what
[00:40] the briefs say and the the actual design and sort of the the offset between those
[00:50] two that sort of existed back and forth the I think that we just have like way too much to take on so what I'm looking at right now is I have the brief pulled
[01:00] up so just looking at the page designs we use the website one right as the design so we have this hero graphic and then we have the graphics and the tabs
[01:10] and that's that's all fine that we have these down here as a kind of grid of them now if I if I kind of add these up and what the what is stated in the brief
[01:20] as far as like number of features and all of that sort of thing for the most part it's three to four of these per page and then anywhere between six and
[01:30] eight of these and then there's also now a graphic in the CTA as well and then of
[01:40] course we have the graphic in the hero and so there's also 14 or 13 or 14 of these pages so just rough math it comes out to like 180 different graphics and
[01:50] yes we'll be able to reuse some of them or whatever but for the most part their graphics have to be kind of thought about and let's assume that we only that
[02:00] we reuse like a third of the graphics we're just still talking about the feature pages not the modality pages which I just think is way too much like
[02:10] if I I sort of did like a these take me about a half hour per image which you know some of these ones with feedback and like you know changes and all sort
[02:20] of stuff I think a half hour is actually kind of quick so might be a little bit conservative of an estimate we're still looking at like 90 to 100 hours worth of
[02:30] work for this so my thinking is that if we just say okay well these could just be icons right like we can kind of say like mobile you know optimize templates
[02:40] and live class schedule etc like we can do an icon for those and instead spend the time with these graphics up here that could work my only issue with that
[02:50] is that all of the graphics and all the feature stuff is now going to be hidden in this tab situation as opposed to being shown in more of like the typical
[03:00] format like this right so what I'm wondering is if we need to switch the
[03:10] format of these pages so that instead of hiding the pieces in a tab we're basically taking this side-by-side thing and doing them as like flip-flops back
[03:20] and forth going down and then have these cards have the iconography or icons instead form right that's one solution another solution would be to limit these
[03:30] from like eight or six cards down to three and may you know and then maybe limit these to three instead of four if I again just kind of switch back you can
[03:40] see how many there are that you know each one requires to kind of like go in and make the image and make sure the text makes sense and all the glows and the windows and layering right like they don't they're not just like a copy and
[03:50] paste thing for the most part I tried it to do that as much as I can but you can see it kind of gets blurry and a lot of times I have to rebuild stuff for kind
[04:00] of like resize it and all of that stuff so the other option is I certainly have folks who I can tap to bring on if we want to just add more hours and try to
[04:10] get through this I can certainly reach out to some people that I work with in the past when this kind of thing happens so yeah so that would be one thing to
[04:20] kind of note that we're looking at a lot of images that need to be made I'm you know going through them as quick as I can here and I could probably speed up
[04:30] a little bit on them but at the end of the day it's just a lot it's a lot more work than we have allocated in the monthly scope anyway so I want to bring that up and get a sense of what you guys want to do talk to you soon
