Updates: New Book Demo Page & Posthog Tracking

Toro
Description

George said the new demo page is nearly ready, with updated bullets, static customer testimonials, a HubSpot form, CTA changes, and the option to swap photos or logos before publishing. He also explained a new mid-page CTA on landing page templates that sends visitors to the book-a-demo page and is intended to help capture more ready-to-convert visitors while tracking performance in PostHog. George then described a PostHog update that tracks demo-form submissions and video plays more accurately over a rolling 30-day window so the team can see which pages and behaviors lead to conversions.

[00:00] Hey, folks. Happy Tuesday. So, as promised, here's a quick video, a little bit of an async update for us, and then we can meet later this week.

[00:10] So we have a couple things in the pipeline here. So just bear with me here as I kind of jump around. There is what we're starting with here is the new demo page.

[00:20] So this will be replacing the existing one. We're going to – I'm actually going to – I won't get into it. I'm not going to confuse everybody. But yeah, so updated the bullets here, cleaned some of this stuff up.

[00:30] This is loading the same HubSpot form. So we should be all set there. Added the customer testimonials in.

[00:40] These are just added statically so that it's not sort of like tangled up with the CMS. But as you can see, we need to add these two folks to get the correct people there.

[00:50] Otherwise, that's more or less ready. Now that I'm saying it out loud, we could probably add their logo too. We'll do that hopefully before you watch this video.

[01:00] This stuff I think was good to go. Then we have the base CTA here. So I took the same copy that we have for the other, for the mid CTA, and placed it here, and I'm using this photo.

[01:10] For now, the book a demo or get a demo button, in this case, brings us back up the page to the hero section so that they stay here,

[01:20] it doesn't reload, all that fun stuff. Okay. So once that's good to go, just let me know and I can put it in place. The other, the second piece is the midway CTA.

[01:30] So on this page, on the landing page templates, we have, I'll just go to this one.

[01:40] So I've placed the CTA down here. So underneath the video, and we're going to use this image as a grid, and, again, the copy is there.

[01:50] This one, the get a demo, will take you to the book a demo page. So you'll be going from this page to the one that we just saw. But, yeah, and hopefully that will kind of help capture some folks who may be

[02:00] ready to make a decision down here but are kind of lingering around. So, yeah, so we'll see a little bit of speculation,

[02:10] something we can track in post-hoc to kind of get a sense. And, again, if that's good to go, I can go ahead and publish it. One of the things I should mention, sorry for giving everyone motion sickness here, I'll calm down,

[02:20] is we could map this photo to each CMS as well. Since we have a couple different pages, driver experience, dispatch,

[02:30] and order management, reporting analytics, et cetera, if there's one that we wanted to, you know, play around with a different photo there, we can. If we want to get more sort of like on theme.

[02:40] But otherwise, I think these will work. Okay. So that's the second piece. The third thing is an update to post-hoc.

[02:50] So one of the things that I've been trying to kind of better figure out is sort of help us track the life of people and users on the site before

[03:00] and up to the point where they convert, where they basically request a demo. We had a couple of stabs at this over the past few weeks at sort of trying

[03:10] to kind of figure out like what if we made it inside here or sort of track this button and kind of do a few things. And I think Katie put together a dashboard, although I'm not sure it's shared,

[03:20] so I couldn't find it in here. But either way, I figured I'm going to take a pass at trying to kind of build out a way that I might think about it.

[03:30] So I'm looking at it as kind of a like 30 days of rolling users. But instead of setting it all manually, I tried out the MCP that they have.

[03:40] So this is me working back and forth with my codecs to basically build out what I was looking for and then placing some custom code on Webflow to do some

[03:50] custom tracking. So overall, there's, as you can see, lots of no matching events for this query, et cetera, because this is going to be the most boring today,

[04:00] and hopefully from here on out we'll get more exciting because we're now recording specific things. So this was updated three hours ago. I could probably do this.

[04:10] You guys have a good amount of folks on the site, so nothing there. Okay. So, yeah, if you've gotten demos in the past three hours and it's not here,

[04:20] that would be meaning there's a problem. Try that again.

[04:30] But while I'm fussing with this, what does it do? So I'm trying to track what people are doing before they request a demo.

[04:40] So we previously had it set up where when you click the submit button, we were triggering that. That trigger still works. But I was able to basically set it so that it catches the form submission

[04:50] itself as it goes to HubSpot and then sends an event to PostDog.

[05:30] A little bit better, more accurate. The other thing I'm doing is tracking the video. We were playing with tracking the button to launch the video,

[05:40] but instead we can track whether or not the player initiates playing the video at all, and then to that effect how long they actually played.

[05:50] We can get a sense, too, about that being part of the journey. What I'm doing is having it look at it over 30 days. At any given point that you set, it's going to always be looking back 30 days

[06:00] and tracking the amount of persons or users that are doing stuff within that time, and then trying to give us a sense of what happened.

[06:10] One of the things that Katie and I were fussing around with on these charts is trying to get an understanding of how many times is it counting a user,

[06:20] and where can we actually trust anything in here. Codex was just much clearer about it and set it up basically the way that we were looking for,

[06:30] which is let us see the volume of pages that people who convert go to before they convert.

[06:40] In any real order, it doesn't matter. The thing that we were not able to get our heads around is sorting out the in what order versus how many of those pages.

[06:50] This basically says it doesn't matter with what order they go to all these different pages. It's just about how many times they visited the page

[07:00] or the page gets visits prior to that group converting. That could mean that one user could go to all of these pages

[07:10] and be counted as visitors on that page. It's not unique, effectively. Obviously, you can see here that visitors with later demo is zero

[07:20] because we haven't collected any of that stuff yet. Soon, we'll be able to actually have this rank by which of these pages are basically the most popular to lead towards a conversion is the idea.

[07:30] This, of course, is then looking at that visually. We'll see. I'll keep checking on this over the coming days and weeks to see how this is working,

[07:40] but it gives you a sense here. Feature pages by visitor, and then ideally, this would be then who converted. We could then see, oh, wow, this is the one where they're converting the most often, et cetera.

[07:50] Then the video plays. This is a similar one. You can see this is already starting to track stuff.

[08:00] The accounting and payments and the dispatch order management, both of those videos have played. You can see it's all.

[08:10] It's also really nice to just write everything out. Anyway, I'll show you guys how I set this up at some point when we're on a call and kind of how to interface with it with Codex or Cloud Code, but very useful because these things can be really cumbersome to set up,

[08:20] and it's very difficult to fully trust that the way you're setting it up is actually the metric you want. So it sort of uses the toolkit that they provide and kind of says, like,

[08:30] this is the best practice to do all these different things, which is awesome. So, yeah, okay, cool. We will chat on Thursday.

[08:40] Cheers.
